Garden Share Membership

calico_farms_logo_blkCalico Farm sells much of its produce in advance to its Garden Share Members (that’s you). Each Member buys a share in the produce I grow for the Garden Shares before the season starts. From June through mid-October each member receives a weekly box of produce, whatever is ready and ripe straight out of the garden, reaping the benefits of the farm’s harvest all season long.

This joint venture allows me to receive capital before the season starts when it is most needed and allows me to be working in the garden during the growing season instead of working at marketing produce. The Garden Shares at Calico Farm are based on a longstanding local food system called Community Supported Agriculture.

Weekly Shares

Each member will enjoy a weekly share of produce and herbs. What is included in each share varies depending on what is ready for harvest. I will try to include 7-10 items in each share with the total value and amount of produce being fairly consistent each week.

Share pick-up is on Fridays from 4-6 PM. The Garden Share Season runs from June 2 through October 13. There are 15 pick-up dates.

  • June 2, 9, 16, 23 (Two week break: Skip June 30 and July 7)
  • July 14, 21, 28 and August 4 (Two week break: Skip August 11 and 18)
  • August 25, September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, October 6

I will deliver shares to the homes of Members with mobility challenges (within Iowa City city limits).

If a share is not picked up it will be donated to Table to Table, a local organization that distributes local food to hungry, homeless, at-risk people in our community.

  1. I so wish we lived close enough to take advantage of this. The squash and peppers that I tried from your farm are the best I’ve ever had. Good luck this growing season!!
